The following guest contribution from Hem Raj Jain points out that the Ukraine conflict was not mentioned by anyone during the CNN Republican debate.
“Anybody who believes in Americanism will be frustrated and saddened by what was seen on TV on Wednesday during debate (between 11 Republican aspirants for US Presidency) moderated by CNN. Every aspirant was claiming that he believes in USA providing leadership to the world but their words sounded hollow given the fact that nobody debated Ukraine. Even CNN, the leading media of USA, did not raise the issue of Ukraine for debate.
Entire world knows that USA is under legal obligation to protect the territorial integrity of Ukraine under Budapest Memorandum 1994. But USA with NATO European Allies are doing nothing even when Crimea has been taken by Russia and Donbass region (Donetsk, Luhansk etc) is with Russian supported rebels.
Leadership to mankind can be provided only by powerful. The USA (the so-called leader of free world) which is so afraid of Russia (hence can not discharge its legal obligations towards Ukraine) is even daydreaming of providing leadership to mankind leaves people baffled whether to weep or laugh on such daydreaming of Americans.
This CNN – Republican debate is a proof that now majority of the people (important in any democracy) do not live in or come to USA to realize American-dream but to fulfill their own dream (that too very ordinary of filling their tummy and producing children as is done by animals too) and have nothing to do with Americanism which once inspired the mankind.
Today’s USA reminds the famous couplet ‘Bade shauk se sun raha tha zamana tum hi so gaye dastaan kahate kahate’ (world was listening to your story with great interest but Alas! you slept while narrating it).
Americanism will never die, only difference is that it will rise from some other part of the world and certainly not from USA if said CNN – Republican debate and other debates going on in media etc in USA and policy of US Democrat Administration towards Ukraine problem, is any indication.”
