Media reports that at least one part of the controversial military arms deal between France and Russia is going to be fulfilled despite sanctions. Russia ordered two Mistral-class helicopter carriers of which the first one, the Vladivostok, has been finished and is ready for handover.
Russian navy personnel has been practicing on the vessel since this summer. In the light of EU-sanctions and pressured by it’s Allies France stopped the delivery of the Vladivostok to Russia in September. Russia reacted by threatening to sue France.
Apparently preparations for an official hand over of the carrier are being prepared and a n official ceremony is taking place on 14 November.
