Peace protests in Moscow

According to media reports today several thousands demonstrators protested against the war in Ukraine and Russia’s involvement in it. As usually at protest the number of participants communicated by different sources variates. The police speaks of 5000 protesters while the organizers estimate that tens of thousands participated in the protest, nearing the maximum allowed number of 50000 persons. Also a counter-protest was reported to have taken place, but in (Western) media reports the number of participants in this protest range from a “few” to “several”.

The peace protesters demand a withdrawal of Russian troops from Ukraine  and to stop the support of the separatists in Eastern Ukraine. Similar protests also took place in other cities in Russia and other countries. (Western) media reports that the majority of Russians is supporting the current course of the Russian government in this conflict.
